Preschool News Week of April 10-14

What We've Been Learning:

Whole Group Learning:

Read it Again: A Color of His Own.  Our learning targets for this lesson are to recognize the difference between letters and words, to understand and use words which describe things and actions (adjectives and adverbs) focusing on the word UNIQUE, to produce a word starting with a specific first sound (we generated words that started with the same first sound as our names), and to share feelings, ideas or experiences in a single story that is precise.

Creative Curriculum: Play Ball and Just Like Josh Gibson.  We generated a list of sports we can play using various balls.  We are planning on having a few more speakers come in to discuss the sports of soccer and baseball.  Very excited for these opportunities!  In discussing our stories, we reviewed the following baseball vocabulary: sailed away, stealing home, baseball, and umpire.  We also answered comprehension questions.

Small Group Learning:

  • 3D Shape guessing game: we reviewed cube, sphere, rectangular prism, triangular prism, pyramid and cone.
  • Geoboard shapes
  • Syllable sorting game
  • Benton County Naturalists (pictures of our explorations below)
  • Egg water painting
  • Counting eggs book
  • Jelly Bean graphing

No School Friday, April 14.
