Preschool News Week of March 27-31

What We've Been Learning:

Whole Group Learning:

Read it Again: The Very Sleepy Sloth.  The learning objectives for this story are: to recognize the difference between letters and words, to talk about the meaning of new words including words that have more than one meaning (spring, swing), to produce a word starting with a specific first sound, and to produce a personal story that has a clear beginning, middle and end.  

Creative Curriculum: The Three Little Pigs.  The goals for this story are to make predictions, recall events from the story in sequential order and to reinact the story.

Preschool News Week of March 20-24

What We've Been Learning:

Whole Group Learning:

Creative Curriculum: We read the stories  Bounce and The Three Billy Goats Gruff.  We discussed the difference between balls that bounce and balls that don't and generated a list together.  We also identified and discussed the problems that occurred in the stories and the following vocabulary: trembled, wobbled and stomped.  

Read it Again: We read Red Leaf, Yellow Leaf.  The goals for this story were to recognize the difference between letters and words, to talk about the meaning of new words, including how words can have more than one meaning, to produce words that share a rhyming pattern, to produce a personal story that has a clear beginning, middle and end. 

Small Group Learning:

  • Letter writing on magna boards
  • Playdoh numbers and ten frames
  • Pizza to Go Math Problem Solving Stories
  • Rhyming Match Up Game 
  • Journals
  • Benton County Naturalists on Thursday

Center Time Learning:
