Preschool News Dec. 5-9

What We've Been Learning:

Whole group learning:

We are reading the books: Who Took the Cookie From the Cookie Jar and If You Give a Mouse a Cookie to go along with our baking study.  We focused on rhyming words and syllables for these stories.

In Read it Again, we are reading the book, The Biggest Snowman Ever.  Our goals for this week are: To learn some uppercase letter names, including those in own name and those of some friends or family members, to understand and use words which describe things and actions (adjectives and adverbs), to segment words into syllables and to blend syllables into words, and to order three or more major events.

Small group learning:

  • December name writing assessment
  • Copying and creating patterns
  • Syllable Sort
  • Shape building with geoboards
  • Jolly Phonics: Mm

Center time learning:

Our students have been thoroughly enjoying our new centers.  It is a joy to see the engagement and interaction.  There are so many learning opportunities during center time and learning increases when activities and tasks are high interest!

Reminders:

Winter weather: please make sure your preschooler has a warm coat, a hat, gloves, snow pants and boots for snowy and cold winter days.  We have had donations of winter apparel made to the school that we can browse for your child if you are in need of any of these items.

Dec. 22 early out schedule with a 1:00 dismiss.
AM Class: 8:15-10:15
PM Class: 11:15-1:00 PM Class will need a sack lunch please.

Gift Exchange:

Preschool will not be having a gift exchange.  Each preschool student will receive a gift from their teacher so they will not be without.  :)

Please also do not feel as though you need to purchase any gifts for myself or my associates.  If you do feel as though you must purchase something, consider a donation to our classroom.

Here are a few ideas:
  • tape
  • hole punchers
  • staplers
  • Target gift cards to be used to purchase food for preschool cooking activities
  • craft supplies such as glitter, sequins, cotton balls, etc.
  • wooden puzzles
  • playdoh

Thank you to everyone who donated sprinkles, frosting, pretzels and almond bark to our baking activities this month!  I no longer need frosting, sprinkles or pretzels.  Thank you so very much for helping out!

Please enjoy pictures of our learning!
