Preschool News Week of Oct. 11-13

What We've Been Learning:

Whole Group:

We are reviewing our Incredible Flexible You book, The Group Plan.  We are learning when we follow the group plan in our classroom, everyone is happy.

Small Group:

  • We played a game called Apple Scramble based off our our story from Incredible Flexible You.  First we discussed what our group plan should be.  We decided it would be fair if everyone picked one apple.  We had to work together as a team to gather the apples.
  • We played Number Squeeze.  I thought of a number and students had to try to guess what number I was thinking of.  I would move the people and indicate if their guess was too high or too low to narrow the choice range.  This game is a great way to work on number identification.
  • We decorated socks for Socktober!

We will be voting on our next Dramatic Play center to guide our learning this week.  Can't wait to see what our next learning adventure will be!  We made S'mores today to finish off our camping adventure which led to some fantastic conversations of the shapes we saw in our graham crackers, chocolate and marshmallows!  We also discussed why the marshmallow puffs up as it does when microwaved?  Great Science inquiry!

Field Trip:

We will be going this Thursday, Oct. 13 to Bloomsbury Farm.  The forecast is 56 degrees for the high.  Please make sure your child has a warm jacket, hats and gloves.  If you plan on attending, Bloomsbury staff has requested that you pay when you arrive in order to be ready to go when our group gets there so you don't miss out on any of the fun!  I am looking forward to the fun-filled day!

There will no Preschool this Friday, Oct. 14 due to teacher professional development.
