Preschool News Week of March 28-April 1

What we are learning:

Read it Again:  The Very Sleepy Sloth
Print Knowledge: We continue to work on assuring students recognize the difference between letters and words.

Vocabulary: We are working on words that have more than one meaning.  Our target words are spring and swing.  

Narrative: We are working on producing a personal story that has a clear beginning, middle and end.  

Phonological Awareness: We are working on producing a word that starts with a specific sound.  

Additional Children's Literature: Spring Changes and  Mouse's First Spring

Jolly Phonics Letter: Yy

New Centers:  
Dramatic Play: Kitchen 
Blocks: Cardboard Blocks
Sensory: Fun Foam
Discovery: Kaleidoscopes
LED Light Table: Construct a Letter

Small Groups: 1.  Beginning sounds file folder games with partners (students match a picture with a letter that has the same beginning sound 2. Counting boxes with partners: we placed numbers in order and counted objects to match each number 3. Eye color graphing 4. Jolly Phonics Book (4yr. old class) 5. Read it Again  

 Next week: Foot Measuring, Letter Sounds Matching Game, and Name Writing Assessment.

Preschool News Week of March 21-24

IMPORTANT:  School will be dismissing early on Thursday, March 24 at 1:00 for Professional Development.  The preschool schedule will be as follows: AM class will meet from 8:15-10:15 and the PM class will meet from 11:15-1:05.  Buses will still run, but at different times.  *****PM class should bring a sack lunch to school on this day!*****


What we are learning:
Children's Literature: Jelly Bean and the Unbreakable Egg, Happy Easter, Little Critter, Happy Easter Mouse!  

New Centers:  
Dramatic Play: Kitchen 
Blocks: Dinosaurs
Sensory: Alphabet upper and lower case eggs matching in Easter grass. 

Small Groups:
1.  Easter measuring with a partner 2.  Counting Eggs Sight Reader (we continue to practice number writing) 3.  Eggcellent Rhyming match ups with a partner 4.  Easter Math Roll and Record Game 5.  Easter Playdoh Mats 6.  Cooking: Rice Krispie Eggs

Next week: We will resume Read it Again and Jolly Phonics next week.  We will continue to work on identifying Beginning Sounds with partner games and working on counting boxes and number identification.
