What we are learning:
Read it Again: Dog Breath
Print Knowledge: We are comparing illustrations on the title page with the illustration on the cover and discussing how they are alike and how they are different.
Vocabulary: We are talking about the meaning of words including how words can have more than one meaning. Our target words are breathtaking, breathless, and lose your breath.
Narrative: We are discussing a time that someone surprised us or helped us to produce a personal story that has a clear beginning, middle and end.
Phonological Awareness: We worked on producing words that share a rhyming pattern for the (-og) words. Example: frog, dog, log.
Additional Children's Literature: Under the Sea We are completing a KWL chart to discover what we know about the ocean, what we want to know and finally we will record what we have learned. We will then find literature and other resources to find answers to our questions.
Sensory Bottles: We created a jelly fish in a bottle and an ocean in a bottle to go along with our under the sea theme. They turned out very cool. If you google ocean in a bottle or jelly fish in a bottle you will find instructions on how to make your own at home. These bottles can be used to encourage attention and concentration, scientific exploration and observation as well as provide a calming effect for your child. They are pretty fun to create and look at for adults too!
Jolly Phonics Letter: Jj
Next week: We will be talking about patterns and working on finishing our number writing books.
Reminder: Please continue to send boots with your child. As the temperatures warm, the path to our playground becomes very muddy and I wouldn't want any shoes to get ruined!
